House Minutes - October 25th, 2009

Ben: "I don't have much. Yeah, there's not really a whole lot going on - I mean, from a governmental perspective."

T-Shirts: Making DGH into a playground, Lukas as a toddler. Or a guy on a zombie giraffe. There's some progress being made! One color, no slogan on the back (preferably). ETA on a design is 2 weeks at the latest.

The lounge and the kitchen are disasters. I can't believe that we have to tell people to clean up after themselves. Are we in college? I could have sworn we were adults already. Maybe we can move a trash can to the lounge from one of the trash rooms (have to coordinate with building staff on this one) or move the can from the kitchen out into the lounge?

Again, clean up after yourselves. Please.

Maybe we should have a house first-aid kit? There's one at the front desk, and Dan and Anna have one that you can use upon request.

7th floor handicapped stall has been coated in blood for the longest time. C'mon, guys, at least dispose of the bodies in the trash room.

Sanitary disposal bins and things are in girls' bathrooms already. Yay SCRH-W council!

Karaoke? If Janotta doesn't do it, SCRH-W and SCRH-E councils might take it up.

IHC reports in: people should fill out the dining hall survey. Printing, Housenet, transportation, SCC issues should be reported to them if people are having major problems.

Transportation at the University is in a transition state. There's been a few administrative changes, so they're still trying to figure out what works best for students. If you have suggestions, please send them to bus@uchicago.edu!

Dan&Anna will sell candy for Halloween starting soon! Kids will be coming around on Halloween to trick or treat in the dorm, so now would be the time start practicing that Thriller dance.

The Midwest Workers' Association is coming to house meeting tonight to talk about being a not-union.

Condom talk Wednesday at study break. Hopefully it'll be afterwards, not beforehand.

We have to figure out some way to keep the kitchen clean and organised. Fridge locks are probably out of the question. The cabinets will be labeled later this week so hopefully it'll be easier to find things from now on!

Birthday pixies are doing a fantastic job. There's been talk of using car markers to write on the exterior windows facing north in the lounge to announce people's birthdays. Too bad Joel isn't around to grace us with his Triforce and glock masterpieces.

Men of DelGiorno calendar: Officially proposed, rapidly derailed and vetoed by (name redacted). And I was looking forward to seeing Ben's beauteous bod this November, too. Maybe we could do something else for a fundraiser - smash tournament, etc?
